  Air column of length L is formed in a tube open at both ends. This air is made to vibrate by tuning fork . Then the air column will vibrates in different modes.

Fundamental or 1 st       |       2 nd  Harmonic     |    3 rd Harmonic

Let  V be the velocity of sound waves in air then fundamental frequency n is given by

Second harmonics frequency

Then the frequencies are  1 ^st, 2 ^nd, 3 ^rd… Harmonics.

Thus Air column in a tube open at both ends vibrates with all harmonics.
